Durham University Celebrates 2026 Collegiate Matriculation Across 17 Historic Communities

Durham University celebrated the formal matriculation of its 2026 incoming class across all 17 residential and digital collegiate communities today.

From the historic Norman cloisters of University College and Hatfield to the modern innovation quads of Josephine Butler and South College, students participated in gowning ceremonies, college dinners, and sports trials.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Karen O'Brien addressed the scholars: "At Durham, your college is not merely where you sleep — it is an enduring scholarly community of debate, friendship, athletic fellowship, and personal discovery that stays with you for life."
